How to Create your own Bathroom Design mood-board in Canva
Have you ever wondered how those stunning interior design mood boards you come across on Instagram and Pinterest are created? Well, the good news is you don't need expensive software or advanced Photoshop skills to make them. In fact, you can start creating your own design mood board from scratch using a simple but effective workflow, which I'm about to share with you.
Visualizing your bathroom design can be a challenging task, especially if you don't have the right resources or prior renovation experience. If you're a professional in the industry or have renovated before, you might already know how to create these mood boards. However, even experienced individuals might benefit from streamlining their creative process.
I personally get a bit overwhelmed when it comes to choosing colors or styles for a bathroom. I find myself struggling without a clear direction or understanding of what I'm trying to achieve. Having at least a basic brief or a sense of how I want the bathroom to feel, like "Bright, white, and airy," "Plenty of texture and warm tones," or even "Dark and moody," is incredibly helpful. This brief sets the tone for the entire design process, and every client's brief will be different. Once I know the direction I'm aiming for, I start browsing on Pinterest for inspiration.
Creating mood boards is an essential part of the creative process when designing any space, and there's a good reason for that. Nothing is more frustrating than ending up with fixtures, fittings, and colors that simply don't work together. Once everything is installed, making changes can be costly and time-consuming. That's why it's crucial to be completely confident in your design choices before you start purchasing any items.
The main purpose of creating visual mood boards is to visually confirm that the selected items will complement each other. You're essentially placing them in the same visual space to see immediately if any elements clash with your design. If you're reading this, you should have a fairly good idea of the items you want to use. While they don't need to be perfect, having a list of items you intend to use in your mood board is helpful. If you're starting from scratch and trying to identify your ideal style, you can refer to our other blog or video explaining how to create a Pinterest board and determine your bathroom style. This will help you gain a better understanding of your chosen style before you proceed with your mood boards. You can still use the mood board creation process to evaluate items and see if they align with the bathroom style you're aiming for.
There are various platforms that allow you to create mood boards, and in this article, I'll show you how to create a beautiful bathroom mood board using Canva.
